Tijtje Keatley  Director of Music 

Tijtje's passion has always been music education. She has taught at Mount Waverley Secondary College since 2001, and has been the Director of Music at the college since 2014. Over the past 22 years of working at the college, Tijtje has taught classroom music Years 7-12, instrumental music - woodwind, and taken a variety of ensembles including the Junior Wind Symphony, the Concert Band, the Jazz Band and she currently directs the Senior Stage Band. 

Tijtje has studied musical instruments since the age of 5 when she began playing the clarinet. Beginning the saxophone and flute shortly after, she attended Blackburn High School and was privileged to belong to a number of ensembles including the Stage Band, Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. Tijtje holds and Advanced Certificate in Music Performance (Jazz/Popular) from Box Hill Institute as well as a Bachelor of Music from the Melbourne Conservatorium majoring in saxophone. She also holds a Bachelor of Teaching (Honors) from the University of Melbourne. 

In 2022 and 2023, Tijtje was invited to present at the Victorian Music Teachers Conference on topics surrounding the success of the MWSC Music Department. In addition to this, in 2023, Tijtje was shortlisted as a finalist for the Victorian Education Excellence Awards, Outstanding Secondary Teacher, a wonderful privilege and honour.
