Melissa Knowles - Head of Woodwind

Melissa is a clarinettist, saxophonist and flautist and woodwind teacher. After attending Blackburn High School, she completed degrees in music and education from The Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne. Melissa has performed with many leading musical ensembles, including Symphony Australia, the Royal Australian Navy Band, Geminiani Orchestra, the Sarezian Wind Quartet, Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra. Melissa has performed throughout Australia and internationally, including performances for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, and for His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. Melissa has taught woodwind in a number of schools throughout Melbourne, including St. Kevin’s College, Genazzano FCJ College, the Academy of Mary Immaculate, Marcellin College, Luther College, Aquinas College, and for the Department of Education. Several of Melissa’s students have continued their studies beyond secondary school at the Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne.
