This is a record of my current research on the impact of music and how it influences youth development, focusing on emotional growth, mental health, and social connection. My research began with exploring how music shapes identity, supports cognitive development, and helps young people build stronger social connections. I also looked into how music therapy can reduce anxiety and depression in children with chronic conditions, highlighting the potential benefits of integrating music into mental health support systems.
As my research progressed, I researched how music strengthens social bonds and group identity through shared experiences. I also explored how music therapy could be used in schools to help students manage emotional struggles. Moving forward, I plan to focus more on the role of music in supporting students with anxiety and depression, as well as how schools can implement music therapy programs effectively.

Before choosing music as my research focus, I explored other topics but wanted something meaningful. Music stood out because it’s more than entertainment—it’s a tool for self-expression, emotional support, and social connection. I became especially interested in how it helps youth cope with challenges and fosters identity and belonging, which shaped the direction of my research.
