Music therapy is a clinical practice that uses music to help people improve their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Lead by trained professionals, can involve listening to music, playing instruments, writing songs, or even moving to music. Tailored to individual needs, it helps reduce anxiety, manage pain, boost mood, and improve social skills. Music therapy is commonly used with children, people with mental health challenges, and those recovering from trauma or illness, offering a creative way to express emotions and promote healing.
Some students try therapy but don’t find it helpful, and others can’t easily get the support they need. Right now, most schools don’t always offer other options, which leaves a lot of students stuck without the right kind of help. I want to change that by pushing for music therapy in schools something easy to reach, creative, and actually helpful for those who need a different way to cope.
