Hello Ms. Patenaude's children!

This week, I would like you to begin by watching: Karen Meets the String Family. Karen visits members of the Sydney Orchestra who play stringed instruments. Remember, these are the instruments that play Peter's theme in, "Peter and the Wolf". As Karen reads a story, the stringed instruments bring the story alive with their music. I know you will love this short video!

Following that short video are two more short videos from "The Music Show". The first one reminds us how important steady beat is in all music; it is the heart of music. The second one reviews what I talk about and teach you about rhythm in this week's "Hello from Miss Duerksen" video. Rhythm is the way in which sound is divided up on each beat. The first two rhythms we learn are: ta and ti-ti.

If you would like to write out the rhythm pattern for the "Starlight Starbright" worksheet below, please do! And then, if you like, send me a photo of your work. I would love to see it!

Enjoy!!

Love,

Miss D.
