Hello Ms. Patenaude's children,

Last week, I sent you (4) Canadian Folk Songs for your listening enjoyment. This week, I have sent you (4) more Canadian Folk Songs because there are so many!! The first song will sound unusual to your listening ears because it is "throat singing" from the Inuit Peoples of Northern Canada. What do you think their "throat singing" Folk Song story is about?

Remember, Folk Songs tell stories about "people" or "folk". Folk Songs help us to understand the history of our countries, our people, our languages, our customs, our traditions, our land. Folk Songs hold our history in music and we can learn so much by listening to the stories in each song. The Canadian Folk Songs I have included each tell a story. I wonder which song will be your favorite this week?

If you like, let me know which one is your favorite and then tell me why it is your favorite. You can even include a picture. I would love to hear from you!!

Love,

Miss D.
