April 20-23
Hello!
I hope you are enjoying your class page for some music activities. No assessment, simply enjoy.
The only thing I have changed for this week are the top (3) songs.
If you would prefer to skip any part of the Spirit Flute section and simply enjoy the songs and the CHROME link, that's just fine. The "Dueling Banjos" video is for Logan in Mr. Hollybow's class, who has just begun to learn how to play the banjo. I think you'll enjoy it, too! "Ode to Joy" is a Spirit Flute song; enjoy this performance from The Muppets. The last one... is one of my faves from Canadian artists, COLDPLAY... "Viva La Vida".

Playing Songs
Students, if Song Set One is easy for you, simply play through each song as review, keeping in mind good technique. Move on to Song Set Two.
If you're still working on songs in Song Set One, then simply keep practicing and refining these first six songs, until you're ready for Song Set Two.
There may be some of you who have: What a Wonderful World and Wavin' Flag - these are the two songs in Song Set Three.
If you have these two songs, continue to practice and refine.
Song Set One
Hot Cross Buns - Mary Had a Little Lamb - Lakota Courting Song - Honour Song - Canoe Song - Land of the Silver Birch
Song Set Two
Ode to Joy - Mother Earth - Amazing Grace - O Canada
Song Set Three
What a Wonderful World - Wavin' Flag

Composing Songs
Students, we had just started to compose music for Spirit Flutes before Spring Break.
On the attached sheet, you will see room for Composition #1 and Composition #2.
If you had already finished Composition #1 in your music duotangs, play it through a few times to ensure you're happy with the finished product and then transfer that composition to the attached sheet, under Composition #1. Remember that you can write the notes the way that makes sense to you. If you had not finished Composition #1 prior to Spring Break, then completing Composition #1 should be your first focus.
If you wish to move on to Composition #2, please go ahead. Composition #2 is two lines long, with 16 bars.
Please send me an email if you find any of this confusing and I will give you a phone call.
If you feel that composition work is too overwhelming, send me an email and I will give you a phone call.
