"Something for Kate" is an idea I've had for a while. At one stage I was going to write it as a story, at another I was going to make it a comic, now that I have a medium to work with that I want to learn more about I'm going to try and make it a game.
The name will probably change, but at the moment it is called this because the inspiration for it comes from my favourite band, Something for Kate . I have yet to see them live, and this is a downfall. I should correct that this year!
Those 3 songs embedded right there! They are the inspiration. While I might not be getting exactly what SFK wanted me to feel from them, I'm interpreting them in my own way. And sometimes I'm going to be directly taking words from the songs and using them as imagery in the game.
On top of that, I plan on making something outside my usual comfort zone. Not that I've really got a comfort zone for game making currently, but I have a comfort zone for my creativity. If you have a look at my Learning Journal (linked back on my Portfolio page) you'll see somewhere in there under the GIM110 stuff, that I don't really like "Walking Simulators". But what I do like watching are horror games where all you do is walk around and find things, and have multiple endings. Which are not much different from just a Walking Simulator. So I wanted to make a game that was basically a Walking Simulator with some choices that ended up with multiple endings. So check out my Dev Logs below for how things are going along.
