First thing I did was discuss it with Scott.
I'm not overly creative, but I'm trying to work on that. But with Scott's help I managed to come up with an idea that I liked, and he helped explain to me how I could build it in a way to learn from it a little at a time. And he has offered to help with the story, which is definitely something more up his alley.
I've decided to build a fantasy 2.5D platformer. Where I can make use of my 3D assets from Synty but simplify it a little by having it using 2 movement. I'm hoping this will make the separate bits of the game easier to do.
I'm going to be breaking my game down into stages that I can work on and get sorted, before moving onto the next section. This way I can focus on getting 1 thing right, and add bits and pieces as I need to as I go further.
STAGE 1 -
Learn Level Building - improve my understanding of how to position everything into the level so it works
Dialogue - learning how to create the text pop-up, and a little 'cut-scene' with the King and Adventurer
Movement - get the character moving left and right and jumping, as well as animating it
When the King had his first child the child was kidnapped and whisked away.
Since then the King lost his first wife and remarried. His second wife has yet to have a child.
Recently the King has received word that someone who has features similar to what his son was known to have has been seen in distant lands.
So the King has requested for Adventurers to go to these distant lands, and YOU are one of those adventurers.
