There's no video for this week, as I decided to focus on my paperwork instead of programming the game.
However, throughout this I have omitted the creation of my assets (mostly because there were very few), which most were done over the break and on weekends. So for this week, let's go over the assets I have made so far.
I created the background for the game during the holiday break. I ended up using a trial version of Rebelle 7 to paint these assets. One of the problems I realised while making this was how transparent the watercolours are, and how they only appear solid due to the paper background underneath. For exporting the individual layers (which is needed for the parallax), I need to have a transparent background. I fixed some of these issues by filling in solid, opaque colours before rendering with watercolour, as well as exporting the paper as well to set behind all the objects when I implement the assets.
Here's the first fish I illustrated for the game!
I solely used the diary as a reference, which admittedly was not the best thing to do. I'm not the happiest with how this looks, as it doesn't feel right.
Note: This version was later scrapped because this was not a depiction of a brown trout. I ended up mixing up the brown trout and rainbow trout to create this amalgam.
Here's the shop scene and shop keeper NPC.
I lost the recording to the creation of the scene itself, but I at least have this one. Yes, at this time I am still planning to have a shop. However, at this rate, it is likely to be cut.
Note: Yes, this was cut from the game.Â
