“Building a framework for media and freedom of expression during times of national emergency.”
All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM) is an Indian committee that operates as a common forum for debate and deliberation before the Parliament sessions take place. Esteemed individuals from numerous national and regional parties across both houses of Parliament gather together to examine concerns of social, economic, and political importance. THSVKMUN’25 is giving you the perfect opportunity to tackle issues of media censorship and external control over social media coverage, especially focusing on its widespread usage during times of national armed conflicts.
In the backdrop of Indian politics, we continue to suffer under a culture that does not tolerate political dissent, with many journalists and independent outlets suffering repression on presumably baseless grounds. Our laws regarding freedom of speech and expression tend to always be followed by a provision that has the potential of putting a wide range of restrictions on their usage.
Moreover, the past and present outline that this regulation is only exacerbated in times of war. We see it happening in plain sight. Information is commonly concealed from the public, and governments are clamping down on oppositional articles and discussions to present a polished image of unanimous support for their decisions. We encourage our delegates to get ready to confront these issues which threaten the legitimacy of our democracy and freedom of speech.
We invite you to participate in meaningful dialogue, analysing the multifaceted concerns around media censorship and regulation at THSVK MUN’25, as well as penning down your resolutions and recommendations. This is a committee you won’t want to miss!
