Date: 5th May, 2022
Time: 8am-10am. (Note: the midterm starts at 8am sharp and not at 8:15!)
Venue: IE007
When justifying the solutions, only the theorems and statements made in the lectures (and, of course, the knowledge learned in secondary school, which is part of the basic material) may be referred to without proof.
Technical information on the conduct of the midterm:
No aids (calculators, notes etc) may be used in the test.
There are always 6 problems, each worth 10 points. Total exam time is 90 minutes.
Please arrive in time. The start time is not 15 minutes after 8, but exactly at 8.
Please arrive to the final exam knowing the name of the recitation instructor as assigned in Neptun and write this name on the paper (in addition to your own name). Please note that any exam with a different recitation instructor's name from the one recorded in Neptun is invalid.
Please ensure that you have a sufficient number of pre-stapled sheets when writing your test. You should not write on the problems sheet handed out or on separate sheets, even if you do not plan to submit these sheets anyway. For those who do not have a stapler, one can be provided before the test commences. The name and Neptun code of the student must be written on each sheet (clearly legible, preferably in the top right-hand corner), and the name of the subject and the name of the recitation instructor (according to Neptun) must be written on the top sheet. This information should be written on the sheets before the examination starts, but apart from this, all sheets should be blank.
Before starting your test, please take your seats in the room in strict accordance with the seating plan announced by the instructors in charge of the room and written on the board. Failure to do so may result in a situation where two students writing the same paper are too close to each other; if this results from failure to observe the seating plan, the paper of the student in breach of the seating plan will automatically be invalid.
Please ensure before being seated, that you have writing equipment (pens, pencils), (pre-stapled) blank sheets of paper and some form of photo identification. In addition, everyone is allowed to have food and drink, but nothing else. All other personal belongings (such as bags, jackets, folders, written or printed notes, electronic devices, etc.) should be placed at the side of the room, on the racks or (especially for items of greater value) on or near the teacher's desk. It is therefore strongly recommended that both the empty chairs between the students writing the test and the seats in the rows of desks that remain empty and completely free for the entire duration of the test. (If there is a secure cloakroom in the building, it is advisable to place personal items not needed for writing the test there.)
Any communication (verbal or written) between students writing the test is strictly forbidden during the writing of the test Any problems or requests (even the simplest ones, such as a request for a pen or a tissue) should be reported to the tutors supervising the class. Failure to do so may result in the invalidity of the student's paper, regardless of the content of the communication.
No one is allowed to have a mobile phone on (even on silent) or any other electronic device while writing a paper; please ensure that you have a wristwatch while writing the paper.
Students are not allowed to leave the room for the first 30 minutes after the start of the paper, and after this time, late arrivals will not be allowed to start writing the paper.
Once the tutors in the room have announced that the time is up, no further writing is allowed on the paper (this means that even the word or sentence you just started writing must be left out).
Everyone is requested to hand in their tests to the tutor in the room as soon as possible after the end of the working time - and to do so in the order requested by the tutors. If you are not handing your test directly to a supervising tutor, then please ensure (by observing its path) that it reached a tutor. Tests handed in late are automatically invalid - whether or not the delay is directly attributable to the student writing the paper.
We wish you all good luck!
