Does the school have a dress code?
Students are expected to dress appropriately which means their private parts are not exposed.
Can I volunteer in my child's classroom?
Yes! To be a classroom volunteer you must have a passed background check and upload it to the Fairmount Elementary volunteer link!
Do students have an easy time making friends?
In our classroom kindness and mutual respect is mandatory! Students know this expectation and if issues arrive with mean behaviors they will be corrected immediately.
How involved are parents in the school? Are there events for parents?
Parent involvement is greatly appreciated and we try to have at least 3-4 classroom parents for each teacher!
Does the school throw any events throughout the year?
Fairmount hosts a Back-to-School bash, Thanksgiving and Holiday musicals, and classroom parties for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Valentines Day!
How can my student make up missed work if absent?
Students will receive a folder for each day they missed that will include all assignments and materials they need. Students have one week to complete this folder to receive the participation.
How is the grading system structured?
Grading is the scale of Poor, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced. To pass the grade of Kindergarten students must meet the level of Basic for each subject. If a student does not meet the Basic level in each subject they have two options:
A: Enroll in summer school and continue onto first grade
B: Redo their kindergarten year
How is tardiness handled?
After the third tardy student will receive a call to home to verify home life is good and parents and Ms. Tucker are on the same page with child's tardiness.
How does Ms. Tucker handle unwanted behaviors?
First offense will receive a time out, second offense will receive a loss of recess and call to home, third offense will receive a loss of recess, call to home, and office referral.
What time is drop off?
7:20 am - 8:00 am! The tardy bell is at 8:15 am.
What time is dismissal?
Dismissal is from 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm! Students who are at school past these hours without previous arrangements will be having parent phone calls made.
How can I get in contact with my student during school hours?
You can send your student a message on Class Dojo and they can respond to you during approved computer times! Remember, all messages sent through Class Dojo go through Ms. Tucker before sent!
What is the best way to contact Ms. Tucker?
Email! In an emergency, call Fairmount's front office to be transferred to Ms. Tucker!
How can I best support my child's learning at home?
Reading one book per night along with talking to your child about their day and what they learned! Children's Literature under the Student page is also helpful!
Who do I notify if my child will be absent?
Call the Fairmount Elementary front office!
Who do I notify if my child has an allergy?
Please send an email to myself as well as the school nurse!
Can I send a birthday treat with my child?
You can send a birthday treat with your child, please just make sure it has no peanuts!
What should I do if I need to pick my child up early from school?
Contact the front office at Fairmount Elementary as well as sending a note or email to Ms. Tucker!
What if my child needs medication during the day?
An email sent to the nurse will ensure your child having access to their medication throughout the day. Medicine must be administered from the original bottle and according to the instructions.
