As a teacher, I believe that little to no homework is vital to a student's education. Homework can add a lot of unnecessary stress to students, which is not good for their mental health. In my class, the most students will spend no more than 30 to 45 minutes a week on homework for my class and they will receive time in class if possible to complete their homework. If I go home for the day and do not plan to do school work related to my job, I will not make them do work for my class.
Students should go home from school and enjoy themselves, participate in extracurricular activities without stressing out about to manage their time to do homework that night as well, be less overworked, and have more time to spend doing what they love or with the people they love. Students spend eight hours a day in school learning and getting new material thrown at them. They should be able to go home and relax their brain, not exercise it more. This will cause them to become drained.
Little to no homework is the best and most healthy option for students. It is also not proven to have any long-term benefits for students.
