WHAT ARE WE DOING? (Objective) - We will create texture rubbings, look at the shapes they make, and see what can you can make with these shapes in a collage.
VOCABULARY:
Texture -means how things feel when you touch them, or how they might seem to feel by looking at them.
Rubbing -pressing a crayon or pencil over paper on a surface to create markings and images.
Collage - a piece of art made by gluing different materials (shapes, magazine pictures, cloth) on to another paper.
MATERIALS: You will need:
White paper (construction paper or just white printer paper) or Brown Grocery Bag
Colored paper for background of collage
Colored crayons
Scissors and glue or glue stick

What is Texture? Texture is how things feel if you would touch them. Touch your hair. Does it feel smooth, silky, rough ? Touch a knit cap or scarf. Does it feel fuzzy? Those are all texture words.

Artists like to use texture in their artwork to help make it look more realistic, like lines for grass, or bushes.
