After an amazing first year at the annual convention for NCTE, my team and I decided to go back so we could continue to spread our message and research to other English educators.
Following a similar thread from the year before, we had decided as a team that it was necessary to provide the significant histories of African American Language and the evolution of language. My portion of the presentation focused on the various themes: "What is language?" "What features does Language identify in a person?" "History of AAL and its features" and the "Standard English Myth". And of course, I have my activity focusing on acknowledging one's own linguistic biases.
This year, my activity was focused mostly on teachers and their pedagogues.
Below is the handout for my activity as well as the Power Point that accompanied it.
