The Teaching and Learning Pathway is an initiative from the state DOE to add courses for high school students to take to complete a pathway that would prepare them for a career in the education field. This program is often referred to as "Grow Your Own" as school districts are asked to grow cultivate their own talent to serve in the district later on.
The thing that I am most proud of in my time as a teacher so far is that I worked with the Rockcastle County community to start this program. There, I taught SED 104 through EKU Dual Credit and worked with our school to add the remaining courses to ensure that RCHS students the opportunity of completing the pathway of courses. I am very excited to know that I have played a part in bringing great young teachers to the district and I hope to do the same for another district in the future.
My passion is to inspire young people to change the world and there is no more effective way for those young people to do that than through instilling a love of teaching in their hearts.
