Berea College - EDS 186

EDS 186 (Inquiry into Social Studies Essentials) is a course at Berea College that I piloted in Fall 2022. Since then, the course has been catalogued and it will be offered each year to education majors and non majors alike in the evenings. 

The course is designed to build a foundation of the fundamentals of social studies for underclassmen. Students learn about social studies in the digital age, finding credible sources, and the basics in behavioral sciences, political science, geography, and economics.

A wide variety of freshmen and sophomores took the course in Fall 2022 and Fall 2023 with a majority of them being education majors, but with focuses as diverse as middle school English down to kindergarten.
