1. Create a massive star that is bigger than your artboard. After, add a gradient.
2. Under Gradient, change Type to Radial.
3. Click the star, then Object > Transform > Transform Each
4. Scale to 90% and set an an angle of 25 degrees. After, click copy.
5. Press CTRL D to repeat the process.
Make three phone backgrounds with different shapes and colour combinations.
Go to grabient.com for cool colour combinations. Also, remember the colour themes.

For this assignment, you will make a poster and ticket for the school play. The play this year is Little Shop of Horrors, a comedy-horror musical about a man who acquires a blood-thirsty plant.
You will have at least three classes to work on your poster and ticket. You can use Photoshop, Illustrator, or a combination of the two. Once you’re done, the art department will pick their favourite poster and ticket, which they will use for the school production.

This is a two part assignment.
1) For the first part, make a logo and a name for a shoe brand in illustrator.

2) Making Internet Ads
- Create a new file that is 250 x 250 pixels. Click the artboards box. Notice that on the bottom right, your layers will be organized by artboards.
- Create another artboard by pressing Layer > New > Artboard. Make the next one 728 x 90 pixels. Select the Artboard Tool (under the move tool) to move your artboard (click the name on your artboards). You can copy and paste artboards.
- Repeat step two. Make one that is 120 x 600.
- Drag and drop the shoe into one of your artboards. After, convert the image into a smart object, copy it, paste it into the other three art boards and find a way to make it work for all three ad sizes.
- Let’s add a logo from Illustrator. Click File > Place Embedded. Illustrator files automatically become smart objects.
6. Click File > Export All to save each artboard as a separate .Png or .Jpeg file.

- Create a new file. Make it 10 x 10 inches.
- Click Window > Extensions > Colour Themes. Click Explore to look up different colour combinations. After, add it to swatches.
- Create a new layer. Name is “Colour 1”.
- On the left side bar, select the Curvature Tool. Make sure it is set to Path on the top left bar. Use the tool to draw a random shape. You can move the dots individually once you’re done.
- On the top bar, click Make: Selection. After, click Select > Inverse. Now, select one of the colours from your swatches then click edit > fill > foreground colour.
- Create a new layer. Name it “Colour #2”. Do the same thing as Colour 1, but with a different colour, and make the shapes interact. After, put the Colour 1 layer on top. Repeat this process at least two more times. Once you’re done, fill the background.
- For each layer, click fx > drop shadow (bottom right).
- Select all of the layers by holding shift. After, right click and press Convert to Smart Object.
- Click the Type Tool. Write something over the text. Put the text layer under the image, then select Layer > Create Clipping Mask.

- Drag and drop sky and island into the bottle. Apply a Layer Mask to the island. Before you change the size, make each item a smart object.
- Select the top of the bottle. Then press Select > Save Selection.
- Using the previous selection, apply a Layer Mask to the sky and the water so it takes the shape of the bottle. Does this by going to Select > Load Selection.
- For each of the layers, cycle through the blending modes to find ones that look good.

2) Drag and drop a second image. Make it a smart object and apply a clipping mask.
3) Now create a layer mask on this later. When you paint on the layer mask, the portrait will be revealed.

1. Open any image
2. Go to filter > Noise > Median so the image loses some of its detail
3. Type a word into the text. Put the image layer above the text, then click Layer > Create Clipping Mask. After, merge the two layers.
4. Create a new layer, then go to Edit > Fill to create a background.
5. Use the liquify tool to smear the image on the inside of the text. Use a smaller brush to make the text look like it’s dripping.
6. Use the selection tool to copy and paste drops.

The goal of this assignment is to add something and take several things away from an image in a way that looks realistic. After you're done practising on the Vancouver skyline, find your own image to edit.

For this assignment, you will combine two photos to create a ghost effect.
What I'm looking for:
- Take two photos, one of a setting and one of yourself. Combine the two in stylized way to make it look like you caught a ghost in a photo.
- Pay close attention to the small details on your layers. Try to make it look as clean as possible.
- Experiment using the different editing techniques we covered in class.
