Write-ups
1) Aim for 300 words in length.
2) Treat each writeup as a small piece of journalism. Each will require research and interviews.
3) Each write-up should take around a week to finish a polished first draft.
Process
1) Research your topic.
2) List information you need and possible interview subjects to answer your questions.
3) Write a big list of questions you can ask, then narrow it down to the good ones.
4) Organize your interviews, do them and record them.
5) After you finish your interview, listen to it. Take notes, and note on the timer when you have interesting quotes. Listen again and transcribe the interesting quotes.
6) Write the thing!
7) After writing more than you need, then edit without mercy.
8) Once you finish, print the article and give it to someone else to edit. After, give it to Sophie.
9) Once Sophie edits it, send the piece back to the writer and make the changes. Repeat this editing process until you are both happy with the piece.
10) At this point, it will go back and forth between Sophie and I until we’re both happy with it.
Tips
1) Remove all semicolons and the 90% of adverbs.
2) Write using the inverted pyramid method.

3) Work together: Bounce ideas off each other, help others brainstorm questions, share interesting information you find.
4) If you think it’s boring, other people probably will too. Try to find something interesting about your topics.
5) Everything must be appropriate for school!
6) Try running it through the Hemingway app.
