A world of disorderly notions, picked out of his books, crowded into his imagination, Gustave Dore (1863), for Miguel Cervantes' Don Quixote, Chapter 1
For the English classes, there are many elements of literature and language that are not solely part of one single section of the curriculum. Poetry is a synthesis of both form and function, of both tone and imagery, of rhythm and rhyme. Nonfiction writing serves a conceptual purpose, but needs to be put into the correct format in order to be useful. Likewise, the elements of mythology supplied in this section are not solely aligned with language and literary elements, but rather connect with multiple pieces (Norse myth may be helpful in studying medievalism, classical Greek and Roman myth assists with philosophy and Neoclassic and Romantic references, etc.). Think reflectively about each thing and ask: what does it do? how does it help me? why does it fit in this situation?
