How to reach Mount Abu

Mount Abu is well-linked to major cities of India. There are many options open to travellers You could board a flight and fly to either Ahmedabad or Udaipur, and from there travel by bus, cab, or train.

I prefer travelling to Abu by rail or road. It’s a great pleasure travelling through the small towns and villages en route to the hills of Abu.

It’s good to keep your camera handy, as you will be surprised by what you might get to photograph on the way, Bird lovers can photograph a variety of the local bird seen along the way, and for those who love scenic scenes, the sky is the limit.

The options are open to travellers travelling to Abu.

By Air

The nearest Airport is in Udaipur (185km). Taxis and buses are easily available for Mount Abu.

By Rail

The nearest railway station is Abu Road, 30 odd km at the base; it is well connected to all the major cities of India. While travelling by train or bus, I recommend taking care of your belongings. Avoid junk food which is found on railway platforms. Avoid foodstuff offered to you by strangers travelling on the train. At Abu Road you could opt for the bus, "shared cabs" or hire a taxi to make it up the hill. A taxi would typically cost you Rs 600 to Rs1000/- bucks. It really all depends on the season.
