About This Print

One of the artist's earlier (created between 1913 and 1916) small kabuki actor prints. This collection's print is mounted to a page from the short-lived 1915 magazine Shin Nigao. However, Kanpō never designed prints for this magazine. As the mounting page carries the name of the artist Matsuda Seifū 松田青風 (1892-1941), this led to my previously mis-identifying this print, which now stands corrected. The signature clearly visible in the upper right corner, reads Kanpō saku, a "work by Kanpō." The actor pictured has not been identified.
