IHL Cat. #2500

About This Print

The artist Inoue Seiji, active during the Taishō  era, was primarily known for his manga. This woodblock print, picturing a woman dancing on a small hill, is mounted on a paper sheet containing the print's title, a date and explanatory text (or commentary or poem) is quite rare. Given the print's title, "Six Modern Street Themes" and the suffix "shū" (collection) at the end of the artist's printed signature on the paper sheet, we can assume five other prints made up this collection, although none can be found on a web search.
