INTRO: This project takes a look at power production in 2019 around the world. Some countries use power differently, so this application should make it easier for someone to compare differences across the different continents. There are two maps, and I used leaflet because there are so many more customization options and I understand it better than mapview. The first map is of North America and all of the power plants located in the continent, and the next leaflet map lets you pick any of the seven continents and also lets you look at all the power plants. You can also show and hide power plants based on their primary type and minimum/maximum capacity, and that comes in the form of a dropdown menu and two sliders, respectively. More details about that are below.
The North America map is merely a map that allows you look at all of the plants in North America. It has no dropdown menus or checkbox, however you can zoom in and out and also reset the map to its original view.
Map of North America, reset button and zoom buttons are on the top left corner
The second leaflet map is a lot more complex and interactive: it has two dropdown menus. The first dropdown lets you pick any of the seven continents around the world. Once you pick any continent, the map will automatically update to an appropriate view of that continent. The next dropdown allows you to filter out plants based on their primary fuel type. So if you wanted to see only one specific type of plant instead of all of them at once, this is a good option.
Map to compare different continents, the two dropdown menus are on the right
There are also two sliders which allow you filter out different plants based on their minimum and maximum capacity.
The two sliders, 22500 is the maximum capacity so that is why it is the maximum value for the slider
