CANDIDATE FOR TEASURER
Campaign Statement:
As an avid parade going New Orleanian, my family is deep in the trenches of Mardi Gras. Growing up, I spent the months leading up to every Mardi Gras, sewing Indian Costumes with my family. I first experienced the magic of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale as a Non-member rider in 2018. As soon as MKFF would allow me, I joined the organization! I was inducted in 2019. Before leaving induction in George’s Auditorium at Dillard University, I signed up for the Special Events Committee and the Parade Committee. I have since joined the Technology Committee and the Finance Committee. Additionally, I am a Co-Lieutenant.
As a proud Femme, I would like to see the organization continue to grow. That means, “put your money where your mouth is”. To that point, I have taken and would like to continue to take an active role in helping the organization to grow. I know that we have Goals and it will take the care of all of us to continue to advance our World Class Organization.
My background is fiscal and fiduciary. I am an Accountant by trade. Numbers are in my DNA. I enjoy debits and credits. My team and I are responsible for the everyday Accounting transactions for 3000+ billion dollar companies. I am also responsible for the Financial Statements of those businesses. That includes MoM expenses and Budget to Actual comparisons. I am confident that the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale will be a billion-dollar organization one day. I am here and ready to serve. In addition to the normal everyday expenses, I manage the Accounting for two Pharmacies (5 total cost centers that include distribution centers). This requires an exceptional understanding of Inventory accounting and a keen eye on the Balance sheet.
Additionally, as a partner of a technology consulting company, bookkeeping and recording keeping is essential. Accurate billing, timely tax and payroll tax payments are a priority. While the accounting system (Quickbooks) is much smaller than my day job software, the responsibility is equally as important. I view the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale’s financials in the same light.
As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc since 1997, I understand the nuances of working in an organization of all women. I understand the need and care for empathy, support, and respect. I am the Leader and serve as the Treasurer for McDonogh #35 Class of 1995 Reunion Committee. In this role, I have been trusted to budget and collect all reunion money. I am one of two check signers. I prepare financial statements for the Reunion committee and classmates. As a small token to lend my leadership to my son’s Graduating Class of 2023, I planned, budgeted, collected money, and successfully partied with 1,200 Graduates and their families.
As a result driven collaborative leader, I am running for Treasurer. When elected, I am prepared to continue and enhance the MKFF Budgeting process. I am prepared to continue to report, monthly, the financial impacts of all transactions. Fiduciary transparency is key. I believe that Membership and Leadership is most comfortable when they understand the financial standings. I am eager to work with board members to stay within budget. Helping to create ideas to sustain profits. And as a Special events committee member, continue to propose ideas to decrease costs.
My professional background coupled with my social background; I am confident that I have the qualifications required to be a successful transparent Treasurer. My MKFF experience has provided the magic to be engaged and energized about the work left to do in the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale.
Please accept this letter as my intent to run for the office of Treasurer.
