The teaching philosophy of education that aligns with me is progressivism which believes that “the aim of education should be based on the needs and interests of students.”
What I will do to instil this in my teaching style:
I will make sure I create lessons that pertain to the needs of each individual student and where they are at.
Children also learn best when it interests them. Therefore I will find out their interests and base lessons off of them when applicable.
I will ensure I incorporate differentiated instruction in the classroom to give all students the opportunity to excel.
I will foster an inclusive classroom where everyone feels a sense of belonging. I want to keep all students within the 4 walls of our classroom.
I want to not only help my students academically but physically and emotionally. For example, some students may need to work on zones of regulation, some may need life skills.
I want to provide my students with the materials and resources they need to succeed in life.
I will allow my students to be involved in their learning experience
My students will learn by doing. I will give them opportunities to experience hands-on by providing them with manipulatives, and things they can relate to.
I also strongly believe in the gradual release of responsibility method - "I do I do, we do, we do, you do , you do" . I will first model my expectations for my kids not just tell them, then pass on the responsibility.
