The class Communication Theory, focused on introducing theories revolving around communication to further understand theoretical perspectives and approaches. This information helped to explain the different views of various individuals and their places in society. This course allowed me to grasp greater knowledge on how differences influence a person’s perspective.

The artifact I chose demonstrates my ability to identify fundamental theories of the discipline regarding communication theories. This assignment required students to separate into different groups based on the theory of their choice. I chose an objective theory, the cultivation theory. The theory focused on how violence in television impacts the perception of an individual’s reality. Through research and group collaboration we created an outline, lesson plan, and interactive activity to teach the theory to the class. All the group work, research, class activity and presentation would all be similar to working for a company that required group work.
