About the Swamp White Oak Preserve
The Swamp White Oak Preserve is owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy near Conesville, Iowa in Muscatine County. Over 288 native species of plants have been documented to occur in the Swamp White Oak Preserve.
This preserve is nestled within the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Important Herpetological Conservation Area, the first of its kind in the United States. This area is situated in the Lower Iowa-Cedar River Watershed and portions of the Upper Mississippi River Floodplain where the greatest diversity and abundance of Iowa's most rare reptile and amphibian species occur.

How to get there
From Highway 61 in Muscatine, Iowa, turn west on 231st Street (Highway G28) and proceed for approximately 11.4 miles. There is a small driveway to the Swamp White Oak Preserve on the north side of 231st Street.
