About Kish-Ke-Kosh Prairie State Preserve

Kish-Ke-Kosh is a 16-acre remnant dry-mesic and mesic prairie that was designated a State Preserve in 1980. Although non-native pasture grasses such as brome are prevalent within the prairie due to past grazing history, interesting native prairie plants can still be found within this preserve. The preserve is named after the Fox Indian Chief Kish-Ke-Kosh whose tribe lived in the area during the time of settlement.
