About Pike Run State Preserve

Pike Run is a 182-acre preserve that houses a mosaic of wetlands and sandy ridges. Pike Run is a unique stream that functions as a flowing wetland, and is one of the few remaining examples of how Iowa streams looked prior to European settlement. A wooden foot bridge that catwalks across Pike Run allows visitors to experience the upland to wetland plant transition. Through the shallow, clear water, lucky visitors on the bridge can catch a glimpse of underwater animals as never seen before.
