“Building Excellence Together.”
This week at Mides Academy has been filled with strong academic focus, excellent behaviour, and meaningful progress across all departments. Students demonstrated maturity, enthusiasm, and impressive commitment as they continued their journey toward the end of term.
The week began with a motivating assembly led by Principal Mr. Gabriel Omolayomi, who reminded students of the importance of discipline, organisation, and consistent effort as we approach the final stretch of the term. Students responded with positivity and focus, setting a strong tone for the days ahead. Teachers across all subjects reported excellent engagement and participation, with many classes showing noticeable improvement in behaviour, teamwork, and independent learning.
Throughout the week, form tutors emphasised the importance of planners, homework organisation, and time management. Students were also updated on upcoming events, house competitions, and club schedules.
Students developed their analytical and writing skills through narrative work, persuasive writing, and text analysis. Many groups produced outstanding paragraphs, showing improved vocabulary and structure.
Learners worked through decimals, inequalities, algebraic reasoning, and graph interpretation. Teachers noted stronger confidence in problem-solving, especially in Years 8 and 9.
All three sciences made excellent progress:

Physics: measuring resistance and investigating circuits
Practical demonstrations helped reinforce key concepts.
History classes analysed primary sources and key historical events, while Geography explored climate zones, ecosystems, and environmental change.

Music: rhythm work, melody practice, and small ensemble performance
In Design & Technology, students produced impressive sketches and model plans, while Food Technology focused on safe techniques and simple recipes.
