1. Introduction
The classroom is a vital environment for learning, collaboration, and personal growth. This policy outlines the expectations and guidelines for behavior and engagement in the classroom.
2. Classroom Expectations
To maintain a positive and productive learning environment, all students must:
Be Prepared: Arrive on time with the necessary materials and equipment for the lesson.
Follow Instructions: Listen and respond promptly to teacher guidance.
Respect Others: Use polite language, avoid interruptions, and respect diverse opinions.
Engage Actively: Participate in lessons, stay focused, and contribute positively to discussions.
Maintain the Environment: Keep the classroom tidy and care for school property.
3. Positive Reinforcement
Mides Academy believes in rewarding students who demonstrate excellent behavior and effort. Rewards include:
Verbal praise and written recognition in the form of commendations.
Merit points or certificates.
Opportunities for leadership roles or participation in reward events.
Display of exemplary work on classroom boards or newsletters.
4. Addressing Disruptive Behavior
To ensure minimal disruption to learning, the following steps will be taken for inappropriate behavior:
Verbal Reminder: The teacher will issue a clear and calm reminder of expectations.
Warning: A formal warning will be issued if behavior continues.
Consequences: Persistent disruptions may result in:
Moving the student within the classroom.
Temporary removal to a designated reflection area.
Lunchtime or after-school detention.
Parental Contact: For repeated or serious behavior concerns, parents/guardians will be informed.
Behavior Plan: A personalized plan may be implemented for ongoing issues.
5. Use of Technology
Devices such as mobile phones and tablets may only be used with teacher permission and for educational purposes.
Unauthorized use of devices will result in confiscation until the end of the school day.
