At Mides Academy, we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment. This policy outlines the standards of behavior expected from all students and the corresponding procedures for addressing breaches.
Behavior Management System
To ensure consistency and fairness in managing student behavior, the following system will be used:
C1 - First Warning
Issued for minor breaches of behavior expectations.
A verbal warning is given to the student, clearly explaining the inappropriate behavior and providing an opportunity to correct it.
C2 - Second Warning
Issued if the inappropriate behavior continues after a C1 warning.
The student will receive a more formal warning, and the incident will be recorded for reference.
C3 - Removal from Class
Issued if the inappropriate behavior persists after a C2 warning.
The student will be asked to leave the classroom. A member of staff will escort the student to an alternative location, where the incident will be recorded. Further action may be taken as necessary.
Defiant Behavior
For severe breaches of behavior expectations, such as direct defiance or disruptive behavior, the Defiant protocol will be applied.
The student will be immediately removed from the class without the C1, C2, or C3 steps being applied.
Attendance and Punctuality
Attendance and punctuality are essential to maintaining an effective learning environment. The following measures will be taken for consistent lateness or unauthorized absences:
Late Arrival
Students who arrive late to class three times within a week will receive a detention.
Unauthorized Absence
Students who are absent without prior authorization or valid reason two times within a week will also receive a detention.
Detention Protocol
Detentions will be scheduled to ensure students have time to reflect on their behavior and understand the importance of adhering to Mides Academy’s expectations.
Failure to attend a detention without valid justification will result in further disciplinary action.
Support and Communication
Students will always be given the opportunity to explain their actions.
Staff members will communicate with students and parents/guardians to address recurring issues and provide appropriate support where needed.
Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the Mides Academy community.
By adhering to this policy, we aim to create a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students.
