In the Laboratory, fossil remains are cleaned and prepared using physical and chemical procedures, in order to ensure their proper scientific identification and classification. In many cases, the use of a microscope or binocular magnifying glass is essential to highlight microscopic features that allow for accurate determination. These optical instruments are also used to obtain microphotographs for study and subsequent publication. Conservation and restoration tasks are also carried out there to ensure that the fossils remain in optimal condition over time.
