The Pediatrics Department at Mass General Brigham for Children has developed Health Equity Rounds which is a multi-disciplinary conference held during Pediatric Grand Rounds to review recent cases that highlight health care disparities with a goal to educate faculty and trainees about how not only healthcare disparities exist in medicine but how they can be addressed
Starting in 2021, our Centers of Excellence Division presentation curricula was revised to refocus presentations to include review of the literature on healthcare disparities in particular disease processes such as IBD, celiac disease, and liver disease. In addition, we have been purposeful about inviting outside speakers to discuss health care disparities:
LGBTQIA+ Care in Gastroenterology - Dr. Christopher Velez, Adult GI Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital
Food Insecurity in Pediatric Gastroenterology - Dr. Deepak Palakshappa, Pediatrics, Wake Forest University
Health Care Disparities in Pediatric Gastroenterology - Dr. Adjoa Anyane-Yeboa, Adult GI Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital
