Twinkle Twinkle Fun

This is for ideas on how to use a tune you know and/or like to play musical games.

  1. Ball Bouncing fun

Find a ball that will bounce well. Find a flat surface and make sure you have plenty of room and won’t damage anything!! Play the track and listen for the meter of 4 beats.

You can:

  • Bounce the ball on every first beat and count the others (2,3,4)

  • Bounce the ball on the 1st and 3rd beat and count the missing ones (2 & 4)

  • Bounce the ball on every beat (tricky!!!)

2. Soft toy or bean bag throwing

If you don’t have a bouncy ball, or you don’t have space to do this safely, find a soft toy or a bean bag. Then you can throw instead of bounce, doing all the same patterns as above

3. Statues and stepping

Now you can have fun doing some statues.

Listen to the tune. The pattern for each phrase is:

Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, stride.

On every stride you can make a shape / jump/ twirl etc etc. Make sure you are ready to move on the next walk.

4. Scarf phrasing

Find a long scarf, and walk to the tune, resting the scarf on the floor at each stride. Can you do something different to show the stride?

Now it's your turn!

This track is a nice long version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The melody repeats 8 times so you have plenty of time to try one of these fun activities!
