Reward system
I believe that a reward system is something that could be beneficial for students from grades pre-k to 2nd grade. The way I use the reward system in my class is giving stickers. If specific students are well behaved, they can earn a sticker that day for class. I try to motivate the class as a whole to give stickers to everyone because I do not like leaving students out. However, there are instances that only selective students will earn a sticker.
Free Days
With majority of my older classes, I try to find ways to give them choices after completing a unit. If they complete the unit planned and work hard the entire time, I plan to give them a free day of class. I think it is important to give students choices from time to time because it keeps them engaged and shows that their hard work can pay off.
PLC Meetings
Having weekly PLC meetings help collaborate with staff and come together to share new ideas. This is a time that helps me understand too how my students are doing in their core classes.
