The teacher uses these experiences to create instructional opportunities that maximize student learning.
Obstacle Course- live lesson
Lesson Explanation
Within this lesson, it tested the student's capabilities to complete the obstacle course. Students were explained in a group setting of what their expectation were to complete the obstacle course.
I was sure to explain each step of the course and go over the equipment that was going to be use. I wanted the students to have a visual before completing the course in case they didn't understand the verbal directions or unsure how to use specific equipment.
It is important to never assume students know how to do things. Students come from different backgrounds. Some are more athletic than others, some need visual examples rather than just verbal directions. This can help create a balance and welcoming atmosphere in your class because students can feel relax before starting any tasks.
Bowling Lesson- Bowling Lesson
Lesson Explanation
During the pandemic, it was challenging finding ways as a PE educator to find ways to keep kids active at home. Creativity with games was the best option. Within this lesson, I found a way to create a bowling game with students to play over zoom.
Items needed for this lesson is something i thought out thoroughly. I wanted to make sure to use things at home that I know mostly everyone would have. They would need 6 water bottles and a ball or could even roll up a few pairs of socks.
Going through this lesson, I would explain it the same way as in class. Going through the steps and procedures on how to set up the bottles to create them as a set of pins was important because I wanted them to all get set up the right way.
This was a fun interactive activity to do with young kids because it showed them how to be creative with things found in their own house. I found most students are just as creative and had fun playing the game.
