Life changes for people. What one thinks they were meant to do for a certain job, they come to find a passion for another. I can say that is what happened in my life. I received my MBA in management in 2019. Excited to jump into a new job after finishing school and eager to be somewhere. However, I always had a passion with working with kids. I love coaching and find it fun being able to work with kids of all ages. I considered teaching and it just never seemed to be something talked about for a future job for myself. However, after a year in business and life happening in 2020, I decided to make the jump to go back to school. There was a lot of criticism, and I had a lot of self-doubt. However, I can honestly say this was one of the best decisions of my life.
As a teacher, it is important to create environments and atmospheres for your students to feel safe. School is a place to help a child grow and learn. Being able to be a part of that journey is exciting to think about. I hope to help develop my student's knowledge and skills in a fun and safe environment in physical education.
My goal as a teacher is to let my students know that it is okay to not be where others are, but to continue to work to get to where they want to be. I never want a student to think they are failing when they are trying to work on bettering themselves. Accountability is something that should be talked about with students and can help guide students in the right direction to getting better. Students will go through trial and error to find what areas of physical activity they enjoy the most. Rather than be a new sport through a unit we are working on, or maybe more focus on their fitness and strength capabilities. Whichever that may be, my goal as an educator is help guide those students to a path of fitness that they enjoy doing at any level that fits best for them.
