Presenting MedIsWet to WWF Int & the Ramsar Secretariat

Eva Hernandez (WWF Spain) and Thanos Giannakakis (WWF Greece) attended an one day workshop in Gland, Switzerland on November 27, 2017. The MedIsWet project was presented to 10 people from WWF International (Freshwater Practice) and the Ramsar Secretariat. Also, the participation of the MedisWet partners in the following European Ramsar pre-COP and the Ramsar COP was discussed. More can be found here.

MedisWet in the 2nd Med Natura 2000 Seminar

On November 14-16, 2017, Terra Cypria, hosted the 2nd Mediterranean Natura 2000 Seminar in Cyprus. During this seminar the inventory of Cypriot wetlands and the MedIsWet project were presented. Project goals and objectives were also discussed with Cyprus’s Ramsar focal point. In total, more than 90 experts and scientist from 8 Mediterranean countries were attended the meeting.

2nd training workshop & kick off meeting in Crete, completed

On November 7-9, 2017, 12 participants from 8 Mediterranean countries and 10 NGOs/Universities were participated in the 2nd training workshop and the MedIsWet kick off meeting, organised in Crete by WWF Greece. MAVA's & MedWet's workshops in Tunisia

On September 26-28, 2017, MAVA organised the 1st Steering group meeting of the M3 Coastal Wetlands strategy with the participation of 17 people. Following, on September 28-29, MedWet organised the Communication project kick off meeting with the participation of 23 people.

8 events in Croatia

2017.07.19

Hyla Association has already started to spread the message. Four capacity building seminars and four environmental education events have been organized since last April in Murter, Šolta and Korčula islands, in Croatia. In total more than 30 volunteers and 170 students have attended these seminars.

Workshop in Ibiza

Working in Mallorca

2017.05.15

Early May 2017, a small team consisted of Carlota Viada, Eva Hernandez (WWF Spain) and Thanos Giannakakis (WWF Greece) visited Mallorca, with aim to work together in the field, attend in a workshop with the public services of the Balearic government and present the launch of the project to local experts and ornithologists. During this period, the team inventoried more than 40 wetlands and had the chance to work together under real conditions, thus sharing ideas and experience.

Sardinia! A first meeting

On April 10, 2017, Kaloust Paragamian (WWF Greece) visited Sardinia and had the chance to present the Greek island wetlands project to the team from the University of Cagliari that will undertake the implementation of the project on the Italian island. After the launch of the project, a more detailed and extensive capacity building seminar will be organised.

1st training workshop in Crete

The 1st training workshop was organised in Irakleion, Crete on November 21-23, 2016. During this workshop, 6 researchers from 3 NGOs (Association Hyla, PIM & WWF Spain) were trained on the methodology developed for the Greek project "Conservation of the island wetlands of Greece".
