The interactions of an active principle are derived from the relevant summary of the characteristics of the active substance (SmPC) or of European medicines agency (EMA http://www.ema.europa.eu).
The program to ascertain the interactions is based on two databases: On database contain the active principles and other drug parameters. The program uses 1,435 active ingredients from this database and the principles are the information that I have consulted.
The second database contains only the interactions (with 44,146 fields and 2 columns).
One field has the interaction "A, B". Where A other B can been:
an active principle
a pharmacodynamic effect
a pharmacokinetic effect: unique or dual
and the second field contains the drug interaction reason.
This interactive drug interaction program permits also identify the possible interactions between active substances which are not explicit in the SmPC/EMA. Phrases like for instance:
- "the list is not exhaustive"; … "other medicinal products" known to prolong the QT interval…
- … is contraindicated the concomitant "use with strong CYP3A4-Inhibitors"
- … is contraindicated the use with "hepatotoxic medicinal products"
The programm can identify "other medicinal products", strong CYP3A4-Inhibitors or "hepatotoxic medicinal products", etc., which are not explicit in the SmPC/EMA.
If you want to know the interactions between several principal actives (up to 15), you can write me please the name of the principal substances (no trade name and only in the EU) per E-Mail to:
I will answer you per Email as soon as possible. The E-mail that you would become is cold "interacciones.htm".
"A, B" refers to interactions that the programm has identified.
On the right side of "A, B" you can have [G1] or [G2].
G1 means that the SmPC/EMA has an interaction of an active principle with a pharmacodynamic or pharmacokinetic group [G1].
In the case of G2 means that the active principles don’t appear in the SmPC/EMA and it is an interactions between two groups [G2].
For instance:
If you send me an Email with the active principles which have been you prescribed:
Omeprazole, simvastatin, ticagrelor and warfarin
and then would you become as Emil the possible interactions which my program has found under the name "interacciones.htm":
