I am writing to you mid term with some personal feedback on the Media Production course, class of 2018/19.
I am really enjoying my studies at the moment. I never would’ve thought that I could gain so much knowledge and contacts within my first year of the course. Particularly the deep rooted industry contacts the University has with companies that have opened doors to me down at GloWorks in the Bay. I have secured part time editing work off the back of this. If it wasn’t for the course, I can definitely say I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to even get my foot in the door. I’ve been proactive and keen to learn and this has paid tenfold.
The Studio Sessions with my tutors – I don’t think I’ve come across two more knowledgeable people ever. The amount I have learnt about 3 camera studios and technicalities… has been outstanding. Their background in Drama and Theatre just opened my eyes to a whole other sector within Media.
Two of my tutors are Welsh speakers and I do feel at home when I can freely have discussions about topics in Welsh and English with them.
I am also encouraged to think from the perspective of a Director or Producer, considering hands on ideas that I’ve never even thought about; lighting subjects, composition of shots, framing shots differently, how does one shot make people think and feel, the list goes on.
Other aspects I have enjoyed greatly are the teaching styles of my lecturers. I find seeing a modern hands-on approach to teaching is so refreshing. It definitely makes the work 10x more interesting when the lecturers are passionate about their work, it rubs off onto the students. In particular the Script writing module was totally foreign to me before starting university and to come out the other end having learnt the skill and language of script writing has already been worth while for me.
I received Unconditional offers from all my options…however selecting USW has been by far the best decision. I haven’t been disappointed so far.
In conclusion what a fantastic course Media Production is; varied, exciting and pushing me intellectually. I feel it is a brilliant place to learn.
Kind Regards,

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for all of the support that was given to our years cohort this year. It has been undoubtedly the most enjoyable year and the time given to each student by the teaching team has been amazing. Being taught by a team that love the jobs and industry they’re in does make our time at USW more enjoyable, as we can see what it means to the lecturers; and I doubt I’d be the only one to say, this makes us want to learn and gain the passion each lecturer has given to us.

So I just wanted to thank the Media Production team on behalf of myself and the rest of the year, because without the support, some of us may not have reached our goals we set from the beginning.
Thank you again, it’s been an amazing three years,
