Third Angel's Message - Rev. 14:9-10

Introduction:

This study will describe the impending crisis that is ahead of us – the formation of the image of the beast, the preparation and its execution, and how will someone accepts the mark on their foreheads and hands.

Prayer Thought:

Satan is now working with all his insinuating, deceiving power, to lead men away from the work of the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with mighty power. When the enemy sees that the Lord is blessing His people, and preparing them to discern his delusions, he will work with his masterly power to bring in fanaticism on one hand and cold formalism on the other, that he may gather in a harvest of souls. Now is the time to watch unceasingly. Watch for the first step of advance that Satan may make among us.--Review and Herald, Jan. 24, 1893. {ChS 40.1}

There are moral icebergs in our churches. There are plenty of formalists who can make an imposing display, but cannot shine as lights in the world.--Review and Herald, March 24, 1891. {ChS 40.2}

Revelation14:9-10

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;

ENFORCEMENT OF FALSE WORSHIP FORCEFUL SYSTEM IS FROM SATAN

Compelling power is found only under Satan’s government. The Lord’s principles are not of this order. His authority rests upon goodness, mercy, and love; and the presentation of these principles is the means to be used.

Who is the BEAST?

“The beast” whose worship is enforced is the first, or Leopard-Like, beast of Revelation 13—the papacy. { HF 276.1 }

THE BEAST (Rev14:9)— is the Papacy or SYSTEM OF PAPACY (compare Rev. 14:9 to Rev. 13:12)

WHAT IS THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST?

The “image to the beast” represents that form of apostate Protestantism which will be developed when the Protestant churches shall seek the aid of the civil power for the enforcement of their dogmas. {GC88 445.2}

IT IS THE UNION OF CHURCH AND STATE

IMAGE MEANS THE EXACT COPY OF THE ORIGINAL

WHO IS THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST?

All who will not bow to the decree of the national councils and obey the national laws to exalt the sabbath instituted by the man of sin, to the disregard of God’s holy day, will feel, not the oppressive power of popery alone, but of the Protestant world, the image of the beast.—Selected Messages 2:380

By this first beast is represented the Roman Church, an ecclesiastical body clothed with civil power, having authority to punish all dissenters. The image to the beast represents another religious body clothed with similar power. 4SP 277.2 }

PROTESTANT WORLD IS THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST

Protestant churches that have followed in the steps of Rome by forming alliance with worldly powers have manifested a similar desire to restrict liberty of conscience.{ 4SP 277.2 }

Who will form the image of the beast?

The formation of this image is the work of that beast whose peaceful rise and mild professions render it so striking a symbol of the United States. 4SP 277.2 }

HOW CAN WE WORSHIP THE FIRST BEAST (papacy)?

Revelation 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Romans 6:16

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Those who, understanding the claims of the fourth commandment, choose to observe the false Sabbath in the place of the true, are thereby paying homage to that power by which alone it is commanded. {BTS, February 1, 1913 par. 4}

BY ACCEPTING AND OBSERVING THE SYSTEM OF PAPACY

HOW WILL THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST BE FORMED?

When the churches of our land, uniting upon such points of faith as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and sustain their institutions, then will Protestant America have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy.4SP 277.2 }

In order for the United States to form an “image of the beast,” the religious power must so control the civil government that the state will also be employed by the church to accomplish her own ends. { HF 274.3 }

WHEN CHURCH AND STATE UNITE TO THE FALSE SYSTEM

WHO IS THE IMAGE BEAST? AMERICA

I saw all that “would not receive the mark of the Beast, and of his Image, in their foreheads or in their hands,” could not buy or sell. [Revelation 13:15-17.] I saw that the number (666) of the Image Beast was made up; [Revelation 13:18.] and that it was the Beast that changed the Sabbath, and the Image Beast had followed on after, and kept the Pope’s, and not God’s Sabbath. And all we were required to do, was to give up God’s Sabbath, and keep the Pope’s, and then we should have the mark of the Beast, and of his image. { WLF 19.1 }

This SYSTEM will use only ONE MAJOR DOCTRINE OF BABYLON WHICH IS SUNDAY KEEPING TO BE A LAW OF THE LAND.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST?

The change of the Sabbath is the sign or mark of the authority of the Roman church. …The mark of the beast is the papal Sabbath, which has been accepted by the world in the place of the day of God's appointment. {BTS, February 1, 1913 par. 4}

Sunday is our mark of authority… the Church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of the fact.

Mark of the beast in the forehead

The forehead represents the mind (Deut. 6:6-8/Heb. 10:16. A person will be marked in the forehead by a decision to keep Sunday as a holy day.

Mark of the beast in the hand

A person will be marked in the hand by working on God’s holy Sabbath or by going along with Sunday laws for practical reasons(job, family, etc) The sign or mark , for either God or the beast wil be invisible to people.You will mark yourself by accepting either God’s sign or mark, the Sabbath, or the beast’s mark, Sunday. Though invisible to me, God will know who has the mark

(2 Tim2:19).

WHAT POWER THAT WILL ENFORCE WORSHIP

Revelation 13:11-12 ,17

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

The “two horns like a lamb” well represent the character of the United States Government, as expressed in its two fundamental principles, Republicanism and Protestantism. { ST November 1, 1899, par. 4 }

PROTESTANT AMERICA

Revelation 13:11.. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

HOW AMERICA WILL SPEAK AS DRAGON OR SATAN?

The lamblike horns and dragon voice of the symbol point to a striking contradiction between the professions and the practice of the nation thus represented. The “speaking” of the nation is the action of its legislative and judicial authorities.{ GC 442.1}

BY USING THE LEGISLATIVE AND JUDICIAL AUTHORITIES

WHO WILL DO THE PERSECUTION?

This power, the last that is to wage war against the church and the law of God, was symbolized by a beast with lamblike horns.{ ST November 1, 1899, par. 4 }

The Protestant churches will unite with the papal power in persecuting the commandment-keeping people of God.. { LDE 145.2}

AMERICA, PAPAL POWER AND PROTESTANT CHURCHES

REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT WILL ENFORCE THE SUNDAY LAW

Laws enforcing the observance of Sunday as the Sabbath, will bring about a national apostasy from the principles of republicanism upon which the government has been founded..—Manuscript 39, 1906, 1. (“The Law of God,” 1906.) { 7MR 192.1 }

MARK OF THE BEAST SYSTEM INVOLVES DEATH PENALTY

Revelation 13:15 ….the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

INSPITE OF DEALTH PENALTY, THERE WILL BE FAITHFUL PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO DIE

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

EVERYONE ONE IS AFFECTED BY MARK OF THE BEAST SYSTEM

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

THE MARK OF THE BEAST SYSTEM CONTROLS..

Rev. 13:15-17 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast (1CIVIL POWER) should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship (2RELIGION) the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell (ECONOMY), save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

MARK OF THE BEAST is the confederacy of protestant churches, papacy, governments and capitalists

The trades unions will be one of the agencies that will bring upon this earth a time of trouble such as has not been since the world began. Letter 200, 1903. {2SM 142.1}

In the world gigantic monopolies will be formed. Men will bind themselves together in unions that will wrap them in the folds of the enemy.. Letter 26, 1903. {2SM 142.2}

The professed Protestant world will form a confederacy with the man of sin, and the church and the world will be in corrupt harmony. {LDE 130.3}

Romanism in the Old World, and apostate Protestantism in the New, will pursue a similar course toward those who honor all the divine precepts. {LDE 130.4}

SUNDAY LAW IS THE LAST AND FINAL TEST OF THE WORLD

The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty; for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve Him not.{ Mar 215.4}

THOSE WHO WILL ACCEPT THE MARK BEAST — RECEIVE THE PLAGUES

Revelation 16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

Is the SUNDAY KEEPING NOW A MARK OF THE BEAST?

Sunday keeping is not yet the mark of the beast, and will not be until the decree goes forth causing men to worship this idol sabbath. The time will come when this day will be the test, but that time has not come yet. {Mar 211.4}

HOW CAN WE RECEIVE THE MARK THE BEAST EASILY?

The mark of the beast will be urged upon us. Those who have step by step yielded to worldly demands and conformed to worldly customs will not find it a hard matter to yield to the powers that be, rather than subject themselves to derision, insult, threatened imprisonment, and death.{Mar 200.4}

What are you doing, brethren, in the great work of preparation? Those who are uniting with the world, are receiving the worldly mold, and preparing for the mark of the beast. { CET 191.1 }

WHAT MUST WE DO TO BE READY FOR THE MARK OF THE BEAST?

Those who are distrustful of self, who are humbling themselves before God and purifying their souls by obeying the truth,—these are receiving the heavenly mold, and preparing for the seal of God in their foreheads. When the decree goes forth, and the stamp is impressed, their character will remain pure and spotless for eternity. { CET 191.1 }

Revelation 15:2-3 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And 1they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and 2.the song of the Lamb

THOSE WHO WILL STAND THE MARK OF THE BEAST - THEY SING(PRESENT TENSE- IT MEANS EVERY DAY) THE SONG OF MOSES AND OF THE LAMB

SONG OF MOSES AND OF THE LAMB MEAN

It is the song of their experience—an experience such as no other company have ever had.” { Hvn 51.1- Heaven}

WE MUST HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS MOSES NOW

Exodus 32:31-33

32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin―; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. please Mat16:25

Moses did not mind himself and loved other people to be saved.

Hebrews 11:24-25

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Moses was rather to suffer than to enjoy the pleasure of sin

WE MUST HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS JESUS NOW

Hebrews 4:14-15

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

1 Peter 2:21-22

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

Jesus overcame every sin

THE FAITHFUL PEOPLE OF GOD WILL not receive the THE MARK OF THE BEAST

Although church and state will unite their power to compel all, “both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,” to receive the mark of the beast, yet the people of God will not receive it. { CCh 39.6}

The FAITHFUL PEOPLE OF GOD will stand unmoved during the time of trouble or mark of the beast

Fearful tests and trials await the people of God. The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of the earth to the other. But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming,—a time of trouble such as has not been since there was a nation—God’s chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them. { CCh 40.1}

A.THIRD ANGEL

Rev. 14:9 – SUMMARY

Rev. 14:9 - THIRD ANGEL MESSAGE IS A MESSAGE THAT THERE WILL BE A COMING SUNDAY LAW(SYSTEM OF PAPACY ) WHICH IS THE VERY LAST TEST OF THE WORLD -THE UNION OF CHURCH AND STATE(SYSTEM OF PAPACY) WILL BE USED BY PROTESTANT AMERICA - the last power that will persecute God’s people combined with PAPAL POWER.

THIS MARK OF THE BEAST SYSTEM WILL CONTROL THE RELIGION, ECONOMY AND GOVERNMENTS - there will be a unity of churches (except the faithful SDAs), capitalists, democratic and communist countries . They will all support such FALSE SYSTEM

THERE WILL BE A TIME OF TROUBLE LIKE NEVER BEFORE AND FEARFUL PERSECUTION MORE THAN THE DARK AGES.

But this false system will last for a short period of time because the SEALED ONES will stand with God’s glory or power and JESUS himself will stand for His people during this period of time.

B.THIRD ANGEL

HEALTH REFORM AND JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH ARE FOUND IN THE FIRST ANGEL MESSAGE

The health reform, I was shown, is a part of the third angel’s message and is just as closely connected with it as are the arm and hand with the human body. 1T. 482.2

The Third Angel's Message in Verity.--Several have written to me, inquiring if the message of justification by faith is the third angel's message, and I have answered, "It is the third angel's message in verity."-- Review and Herald, April 1, 1890. {Ev 190.3}

C.THIRD ANGEL

IT IS FOUND IN THE SECOND ANGEL MESSAGE

The third angel's message must do its work of separating from the churches a people who will take their stand on the platform of eternal truth. {GCB, January 1, 1900 par. 7}

IT IS FOUND IN THE FIRST ANGEL MESSAGE

God's purpose in giving the third angel's message to the world is to prepare a people to stand true to Him during the investigative judgment.," October 24, 1902.) {1MR 228.2}

The first and second angel's messages are bound up with the third. The power of the proclamation of the first and second messages is to be concentrated in the third. {GCB, January 1,
