We had been searching for a decent restaurant where we could get fresh seafood. Each place we visited confirmed they do not serve fresh line fish, only defrosted fish. The only place who confirmed they serve fresh line fish was the Ocean Basket in Quatre Bornes (I am sure it was not fresh line fish). Lynne had posted her disappointment to her friends.
A friend of Lynne, living in Dubai, sent her a message saying we must go to the Cabane du Filao Restaurant with rough directions on how to get there on the Anse La Raie Beach. The first time we looked for the place we drove around and could not find it. After more messaging with her friend, we understood what to look for and found the place. We must have driven past it a number of times not realizing what the place was.
Fresher fish, one cannot get. Every morning the husband would fish for the seafood. When your order, the husband brings out a tray of the catch of the day for selection. His wife prepared meals Mauritian style.
We loved this place and along with the couple who owned the place. It was "as you see it", nothing pretentious and the food was excellent. While you could get a cheaper meal in town, you could not get a better meal - We visited the place numerous times.
Each time we passed the sign "Azuri Yatch Club Beach" we would comment that we must pop in to view it. This week we made a point in popping in. The residential complex was only recently opened and evidence of construction was visible. Apparently the development was sponsored by a South Africa company. It included a grocery store and restaurant. We went to the restaurant for a drink. We subsequently visited the place numerous times that included dinner.
On a previous trip to Mauritius in 2000, I could not go diving because I had sinusitis and my ears were blocked. This time I had the chance to experience the awesome diving at Trou Aux Biches in Mauritius. We did a ship wreck dive and reef dive. A boat took us out to the dive sites. Under water visibility was over 20m and the water temperature was very comfortable. There was a large variety of sea life that made the diving even better.
We visited Pointe Aux Piments Beach where I tested the snorkeling experience. I did not see any fish.
I snorkeled at the Sakoa Beach and I did not see any fish.
While travelling through one of the many coastal villages, we saw this coffee shop and stopped off for a cuppa.
