We had met the neighbors on both sides of our Villa and agreed that we would each take turns to host everyone with Cheese and Wine every Saturday evening.
Virtually every day there was a brief rainstorm that would cool things down. On Friday 23rd it looked like the rain had settled in for the day so we decided to visit the central part of the Island. We visited the extinct volcanic crater in Curepipe and the Bois Chiri tea farm.
There are some factory outlet stores in Curepipe that sell famous clothing brands that are manufactured in Mauritius. Luckily we had lived in Dubai for 7 years and had an idea of pricing and felt the factory store was overpriced - We looked and bought nothing.
The crater at Curepipe. There is a pathway around the top with viewing sites. It was raining and I still took a walk to take some photos.
Tea tasting at Bois Chiri. We tasted 12 different teas. What an experience.
The Bois Chiri tea plantation is beautiful.
Grand Bay become our preferred destination for grocery shopping as the large supermarket stocked everything including wine.
Some days we would drive along the coast in search for nice snorkeling beaches. Palmar was one of the beaches that I would visit for an afternoon snorkel.
I never got tired of driving along the beautiful narrow road through the forest at Post Lafayette with the beach only 100m to the right.
On one of the many visits to Grand Baie we had lunch at the Lazy Dodo.
We stopped off at the Poste Lafayette beach to investigate Kite Surfing lessons.
During our travels in 2014, I had completed 10 hours of Kite Surf training in Walvis bay and could stand up and travel a short distance before making a mistake and ending up back in the water. I decided that I wanted to improve my skills so I signed up for further training.
