Ripples

This piece was created during the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college for an editing course. We were tasked with creating a music video using stock footage and or footage of our own.  I decided to make a music video for the Genesis song "Ripples". Unfortunately, we had a maximum time limit of 4 minutes, so I only made a music video for the superior second half of the song. 

The first thing I did was think of the song itself and think of the images that came into mind as I listened. I kept getting the image of a woman walking on the beach juxtaposed with strange cosmic visuals. 

The next thing I did was go into after effects and create a vortex that was reminiscent of the stargate sequence from Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey". I did this because there was no way I was going to find any stock footage that would fit what I had in mind. Then I gathered stock footage of a woman walking on the beach. 

I then cobbled the stock footage and vortex animation together in premier, added film grain, and then rendered.
