I'm Matt Sherman, an artist, animator, illustrator, musician, and filmmaker.
For my entire life I have been fascinated with stories. Whether it be film, television, comic books, and even music. So it was only natural that I started drawing and playing around with video equipment from a young age. In my mind these various different mediums were all one skill used in tandem to tell stories. Therefore I never restricted myself to learning just one of these skills. After all, why limit myself to one medium when I could learn and master as many as I possibly could.
Many of my friends, as well as family members, would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Or what career I’d like to have. I’ve always known that I just wanted to tell stories. My stories if possible. To me, it doesn’t matter the medium. I create art, animation, music, illustrations, and more to appease this unrelenting storytelling itch. I will also never stop in these goals, because my brain will always create new stories to tell.
As I’ve consumed art, I’ve developed a taste for analogue machinery, historical periods (the mid twentieth century in particular), and most prominently science fiction, fantasy, and comedy. This means that the stories I tell, and by default the art I make, will always have some aspect of these within.
Ultimately, I create art, animations, illustrations, music, and films to express my soul. To explore concepts that fascinate me, and hopefully to make people laugh.
