Philosophy of Education
I believe that the purpose of education is to help students achieve their full academic potential and to prepare them for the future. Students should be able to prepare for the jobs they want to have and for helping make the changes they want to see in society. It is very important to give students the help they need with each subject they are learning so they can succeed as much as possible. Integrating the Arts is important in order to help students deeply think about and understand academic concepts so they are prepared with the necessary academic, social, and creative skills they need in life. The Arts help students with self-expression and understanding concepts in a variety of ways on a deeper level. They allow students to make personal connections to what they are learning about.
I chose teaching as my profession because I have a passion for assisting students with achieving their academic goals and reaching their full potential. I want to make a difference in children’s lives so they have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Also, Arts integration is a very valuable way to teach students many additional important skills, which is something I plan to take part in. Furthermore, I care about guiding students through diverse learning that allows them to learn more about both their own cultures and the cultures of others.
In the classroom, I will ensure that each student understands the material by explaining topics in multiple ways for students who understand things differently. Also, I will be available to provide students with additional help with subjects as they need it. I plan on working with other teachers to develop ways to incorporate a wide variety of subjects in the curriculum. I will ensure that students have opportunities to express their own ideas and I will relate some concepts to things they are familiar with.
I have chosen the education field because I have a passion for helping children succeed and reach their academic goals. Making a difference in children’s lives is very important to me. Guiding students through their academic journeys and helping them develop skills they need so they can make the changes they want in the world is meaningful. Incorporating the Arts in academic lessons will give them confidence to follow their passions, as well as prepare them for their futures.
As a teacher, I plan to do activities where students can share their own insights and ideas. I want students to able to express themselves. Additionally, I will set up activities to be completed with partners or groups so students can interact with each other and learn how to work with different people. It is very important for students to collaborate with each other because someone can learn something from everyone. Projects will be part of my classroom so students can have a hands-on experience to apply their knowledge of the information they learn. These types of assignments will help students think critically and creatively.
Students can expect me to be available to help them when they are struggling. I will make time each day to meet with students who need additional assistance. Students can also expect me to be honest. They can look forward to a caring environment where diversity and everyone’s differences are accepted. I will emphasize diversity by relating topics from the curriculum to a variety of cultures. My classroom will be a place where kindness and equal treatment are highly valued. Students should be able to safely express their identities. They can furthermore expect me to be clear in my explanations of assignments and expectations.
One way I plan to grow and develop as an educator is through professional development opportunities. I am interested in studying the topics of working with special needs students, using virtual platforms, and mental health of students. Also, collaborating with other staff members will help me grow and develop in my field because they may have different insights from their years of experience.
I expect my students to be kind and inclusive. My students should treat others the way they want to be treated. I also expect my students to put their best effort into their work. It is important that they try their hardest and get help when they need it. As an educator, I will teach my students good morals. When reading stories to the class, I plan to choose some stories that teach students about respecting others and accepting people’s differences. I want them all to be kind and caring towards their classmates. Students should support each other, and not negatively judge each other. They should be respectful of everyone’s answers during class discussions so each student feels more confident when participating in class. It is important for students to be open-minded to each other’s ideas because everyone’s thoughts are valuable. In order to ensure everyone is respected and treated with kindness, I will have a set of class rules posted on the wall. The skills I want my students to take with them from my class are an understanding of how to apply concepts to the world around them, working well in a variety of collaborative group settings, being empathetic towards others, and combining critical thinking with artistic creativity.
