Denotation:

This tryptych is based on 1 Kings 19 where the voice of God is described as a gentle whisper when he calls out to the Prophet Elijah. As this tryptych displays a self portrait it communicates the need to sit still in the quiet of the Lord's presence in order to hear his voice.
